Fingerprint sensors on Pixel & Nexus phones not working after Android 7.1.2 Nougat update

0 4

Google is rolling out Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for Nexus and Pixel devices. This update brings some improvements and bug fixes for Pixel devices in particular. It resolves the early shutdown issue along with those who experience the pink banding on the camera. Some users also reported annoying audio cracking experience when the speaker was played at high volumes, is also fixed.

After this Android 7.1.2 Nougat update, it seems that many users are experiencing problems with their fingerprint sensors (Nexus/Pixel Imprint). The sensor is no longer working for some users to unlock the device or to register new fingerprints.

The issue is certainly not hardware, as the sensor still recognizes the swipe down for notifications gesture, so we’re hoping that Google fixes this with a new software update.

Google has not responded to this issue so far, but there are official Google support forum threads documenting it. If you’re experiencing the same issue, hit the source link and share your experience.
