Downloading has become an essential part of our lives. It’s the best way of having an offline copy of the music, video, movie, or anything else in your device’s storage so that you can watch it anytime and as many times as you want. Simply because not everyone can afford a blazing fast internet connection to stream the music, videos, and movies right away.
Internet Download Manager (IDM) made life easier. But the worst part is that it’s not free. Then Free Download Manager (FDM) took the crown due to its “100% Free” price tag. FDM has all the features that IDM has like downloads grabber, accelerator, bandwidth limiter etc.
Recommended settings to boost FDM downloads
Today, we’ll be sharing some settings that will help you boost your download speeds in FDM. Let’s get started:
Keep ‘Proxy’ disabled if you have no idea what it is.
Change ‘Traffic Limits’ to create a custom profile. Set ‘Unlimited’ for ‘Download speed’. Double click on ‘Upload speed’ and set it to ‘1’ which is the least possible value.
Change ‘Maximum number of connections’ to ’10’ or more. If will make your downloads faster especially if you are downloading torrents.
Change ‘Maximum number of simultaneous downloads’ to ‘2’ or ‘3’. That depends on how many downloads you want to be active at a time.
Step 5. (Optional)
Set your current Ethernet or WiFi as ‘Metered Connection’. This will disable all kinds of background internet usage by your Windows or Mac OS like updates, maintenance services etc. This is an optional step because it’s always recommended to keep your OS updated.
